Reeya Thakrar counsels clients on intellectual property matters including patent law and technology transactions. Reeya has prosecuted patents for consumer electronics. She also has litigation experience, which includes successfully representing a software company in a breach of contract action and defending a global electronics company and a commercial and home appliance company in complex patent infringement suits in the Eastern District of Texas and the District of Delaware, respectively. She has been involved in many aspects of litigation including drafting pleadings, responding to written discovery, working with technical experts and witnesses, and drafting post-trial motions.
Reeya also counsels clients on matters related to data security and data privacy, including drafting and implementing data security and privacy policies, document retention policies, device usage policies, and mobile application policies. Reeya has experience identifying privacy and security risks to assist clients in developing comprehensive information governance programs and incident response plans. Reeya has also worked with forensics teams to investigate data breaches and respond in accordance with applicable federal and state laws and regulations. She has also advised clients on international data transfer issues and has drafted applicable agreements and provisions to ensure compliance with international laws.
Before attending law school, Reeya worked as a technology strategy consultant with a multinational information technology corporation for over three years, primarily assisting utilities in the electric industry. Reeya was a summer associate at Drinker Biddle before joining the firm full-time. She is also currently serving on the Associate Board for the Lawyers for the Creative Arts.
