Matt clerked for the Hon. David R. Strawbridge, Magistrate Judge for the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania, and interned for the Hon. Timothy R. Rice, Magistrate Judge for the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania.
As a law student volunteer with the Department of Justice’s Civil Appellate Staff, Matt drafted briefs for submission to United States Courts of Appeal and drafted memoranda regarding constitutional law, administrative law, and national security law issues. As a law student in Villanova’s Mental and Physical Health Law Clinic, Matt successfully argued for the reinstatement of a client’s disability benefits and counseled another through guardianship proceedings.
While a law clerk, Matt worked with an interdisciplinary team of prosecutors, defense attorneys, probation officers, and social services specialists in the Eastern District of Pennsylvania’s Relapse Prevention Court to connect participants with treatment, employment, and educational resources in an effort to reduce recidivism and improve outcomes for participants, their families, and their communities.
