Darren S. Cahr counsels clients and litigates disputes on topics relating to intellectual property and marketing practices. He provides critical advice to organizations in a number of industries in connection with the protection of their intangible assets, their competitive positioning, and their branded communications. Darren has litigated and tried cases in courts around the nation and before administrative agencies, dispute resolution forums and self-regulatory bodies. Darren also serves as co-chair of the firm's Advertising and Promotions Team.

Darren is a widely published author and blogger on topics of law, social media, and popular culture, a novelist, a musician, and an active member of several professional organizations.   • Successfully argued appeal overruling trademark application refusal in In re Johnson & Johnson, Serial No. 85286071 (T.T.A.B. 2015)
  • Won complex product configuration trade dress infringement action at trial, upheld on appeal, in Bobrick Washroom Equipment v. American Specialties (C.D. Cal. 2012)
  • Successfully obtained consent judgments in parallel importation cases in Trademark Holdings of Illinois v. AR Dental (E.D. NY 2009) and Trademark Holdings of Illinois v. King’s Two Dental Supply (C.D. Cal. 2009)
  • Won high-profile copyright infringement action relating to protection of science fiction tropes in films and video games in Crawford et al. v. Midway Games Inc., et al, 2:07-cv-00967 (C.D. Cal. 2008)
  • Successfully tried trademark infringement action, upheld on appeal, Vincent v. City Colleges of Chicago, 04-cv-07641 (N.D. Ill 2007) (aff'd, 7th Cir. 2008)
