Reed Abrahamson assists his clients in identifying and addressing data privacy and security risks in business operations. Reed has helped companies design and implement privacy and data security policies and programs. He has also provided advice on compliance with HIPAA, the CAN-SPAM Act, the TCPA, and other privacy laws. Reed has helped companies respond to data breach incidents.
Reed also works with in-house teams to create frameworks for international transfers of regulated personal information, particularly from the European Union to the United States. Reed is a Certified Information Privacy Professional – United States.
Reed also advises clients on identifying compliance obligations and managing risk through appropriate policies and contractual arrangements. He helps clients draft and modify customer and consumer-facing privacy policies and statements, and works with clients on contractual arrangements in a variety of contexts and industries. He has helped clients retain service providers and enter into arrangements with customers. Reed is qualified as a Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP-US) by the International Association of Privacy Professionals.
In addition, as a member of the consortia management team, Reed works on the formation, management, and representation of consortia in the life sciences industry that address matters of science, policy, law, and business operations. Reed assists in the creation of appropriate collaboration mechanisms and provides legal support for the day-to-day activities of these organizations.
Reed served as a law clerk to the Senior Judges for the District of Columbia Court of Appeals.
