IRA Rollovers

Fred Reish and Joan Neri co-authored an article for PlanAdviser magazine that discussed how the DOL fiduciary rule impacts advisers who provide discretionary investment management services to IRA owners. Specifically, the article explains how the adviser’s rollover recommendation is a fiduciary act that in most instances results in a prohibited transaction for which an exemption is needed. However, the ongoing discretionary investment management services for which a level fee is charged are not impacted by the rule.
