Chicago partner Mark Nelson wrote an article for HR Pulse titled, “Social Media: The Bane of HR Leaders’ Existence and How to Manage it.”

Mark’s article guides human resource leaders through the myriad issues that social media presents. He explains why a social media policy is essential for employers, how health care providers can avoid social media issues, and suggests guidelines for the creation or revision of an effective social media policy.

He emphasizes that “a lawful policy is only the first step” and says providers “must be able to recognize when employees’ social media activity is protected and when it is not.”
