Mexico announced on March 18, 2009, that it will be imposing higher tariffs on $2.4 million of U.S. exports to Mexico after the U.S. Congress terminated the United States- Mexico cross border trucking pilot program. The increased tariffs range from 10 to 45 percent and become effective today. It is estimated that the retaliatory duties will affect approximately 90 industrial and agricultural items, from as many as 40 U.S. states.
