In this article, Karen discusses changes governments have made to ensure the security of the supply chain in an effort to prevent the sort of disruption that occurred after the terrorist attacks on Sept. 11. She details the United States Customs-Trade Partnership Against Terrorism and how a number of other programs have been modeled after it, including the World Customs Organizations (WCO) SAFE Framework Standards and the European Union’s Authorized Economic Operator (AEO) program. The article also details the WCO’s SAFE Framework and the EU’s AEO program and other security regulations and requirements that may be coming in the near future.
