New York Partner Peter Baldwin was quoted in an article in The Wall Street Journal titled “International Hacker Group Charged After Stealing Millions.” The article focuses on the recent indictment of ten foreign cyber-criminals who are alleged to have used “GozNym” malware to fraudulently transfer millions of dollars out of victims’ bank accounts over a multi-year period.

In reference to Russian cyber-criminal groups like the one charged in this case, Pete noted that the recent charges were an example of “a concerted effort to respond to that specific threat.”  Further, remarking on the investigative and prosecutorial collaboration between the Department of Justice and multiple foreign partners, Pete said, “Allowing countries to prosecute their own nationals is something that will foster further cooperation.”
