Washington, D.C., associate Yodi Hailemariam was interviewed by the International Information Systems Security Certification Consortium, or (ISC)2, about the recent ransomware attack on the city of Atlanta’s municipal IT infrastructure.

The ability of malicious actors to stay ahead of the curve as technology and techniques advance serves as a reminder to organizations to be “vigilant and proactive” against cyber threats, Yodi explained. “[Organizations] should be taking very mindful, appropriate steps to prepare for and prevent ransomware and other similar attacks.”

Yodi also discussed best practices for incident response planning concerning ransomware and other data incidents, noting that “[a]n ounce of prevention is worth millions of dollars in cure.”
