Washington, D.C., partners Nate Bolin and Laura Phillips provided insight for the National Journal article “FCC’s Foray Into National Security Provokes Apprehension.” The article examines the FCC’s proposal which, if approved, would deny federal subsidies to U.S. telecom companies using products or services from foreign firms that the FCC determines are national security risks. Laura was quoted in the article, saying that since the reasoning for designating foreign firms as security risks will probably be classified, it will be difficult for U.S. companies to weigh in effectively: “How do you do good comments when you don’t know what it is you’re actually addressing, in terms of an impact or an adverse consequence?"
