Washington, D.C., partner and chief data scientist Bennett Borden was quoted in an article for The American Lawyer that discussed the growing responsibilities of data science leaders in law firms.

Drawing on his experience as Drinker Biddle’s chief data scientist, Bennett explained how law firms that invest in their data analytics teams can bring value to internal and external matters. Bennett said, “The big challenge is turning the position into a money-making one. In a law firm, the world is divided into those that make money and those that eat money.”

Bennett predicted that more lawyers will use data science to deliver insight to clients quickly and accurately. Lawyers, Bennett said, “fundamentally deal in information. In the information age, that information is overwhelmingly electronic. The way you get at insight in large piles of data is through analytics and data science. It’s just inevitable. It’s just also crazy cool.”
