Chicago partner Jim Lundy was quoted in an Ignites article titled “Industry to SEC: Tell Us Your 2018 Exam Priorities, Already.”
2018 marked the first time in several years that the SEC failed to issue its annual exam priorities letter in January. Jim commented on possible reasons for the delay, saying that “[his] strong hunch is that Chairman [Jay] Clayton wants to allow time for the new commissioners, [Hester] Peirce and [Robert] Jackson, and their staffs to review whatever final draft is in place,” which could allow the commissioners time to provide input on the letter.
Firms use the exam priorities letter, first issued in 2013, to ensure they remain focused on the same issues as the regulator.
