Drinker Biddle & Reath LLP has expanded its customs and trade capabilities with the addition of Nathaniel Bolin to its Government and Regulatory Affairs Group. He joins as a partner based out of the firm’s Washington, D.C., office.
Mr. Bolin represents clients in transactional, litigation, policy and regulatory matters involving U.S. export controls, national security, and related areas of customs and international trade laws. He advises manufacturers, importers, exporters, financial institutions and investors on the impact of these laws—including the Export Administration Regulations (EAR) and International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR)—on their operations, business strategy and investments.

Mr. Bolin has represented clients in trade litigation before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, U.S. Court of International Trade, U.S. International Trade Commission, U.S. Department of Commerce and binational panels convened pursuant to the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA). He is also a former International Trade Specialist with the U.S. Department of Commerce, International Trade Administration.
Owing to his extensive ITAR experience, he was appointed by the Assistant Secretary of State for Political-Military Affairs to serve on the U.S. State Department’s Defense Trade Advisory Group (DTAG) for the 2016-2018 term.

Mr. Bolin is a graduate of The George Washington University Law School and earned his master’s degree from Stanford University. He was formerly Counsel at Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP.
