Joshua J. Yang has joined Drinker Biddle & Reath LLP’s nationally recognized investment management practice as a partner residing in the firm’s Chicago office.
An investment management and derivatives lawyer, Mr. Yang focuses his practice on futures commission merchants, swap dealers, commodity pool operators, commodity trading advisors and investment managers. He advises major banks, registered funds, hedge funds and end users on derivatives documentation and a broad range of Dodd-Frank and Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) registration and compliance-related issues.
Mr. Yang assists investment managers in structuring and forming private investment funds, including hedge funds, commodity pools, commingled funds, group trusts and collective investment trusts. In his growing China-based practice, he represents Chinese financial institutions in setting up operations in the United States.

Most recently, he was a partner at K&L Gates. Mr. Yang is a 2005 graduate of the William Mitchell College of Law and earned his MBA from Southern Methodist University in 1999. He also holds a master’s degree in economics and bachelor’s degree from Wuhan University.
