Tom Dawson was quoted in Reactions in an article titled, “Brexit realities are sinking in.” The article discusses the impact of Brexit on the London insurance market.
“Worst case in the near term—and perhaps longer? London market insurers with significant EU business and without non-UK options will presumably need to evaluate redomiciling and relocating staff. To where? Dublin or Zurich would seem to be two obvious options,” said Tom.
“In the medium to longer term, the UK will presumably seek to negotiate an insurance trade/regulatory deal with the EU that provides some re/insurance trading privileges (probably short of full passport privileges) and/or recognition that UK regulation is equivalent,” he added.
