Washington, D.C. partner Scott Coffina was noted in two recent articles, “Issa raises Hatch Act Concerns about Obama officials,” in the Washington Times, and “White House defies congressional subpoena, but hearing set to continue,” in the Washington Post. Both articles discussed the issue of a former Obama Cabinet official leaving a voicemail asking someone to attend a fundraiser for President Obama’s 2012 re-election campaign, raising questions about possible Hatch Act violations. The Hatch Act bars public employees from using their office to engage in partisan political activities.
