Ian P. Goldstein

Ian is a partner in the firm’s Princeton office and vice chair of the Corporate and Securities Practice Group. Ian is a member of the firm’s Alumni Advisory Committee and has been a past Chair of the firm’s Professional Development Committee. He began his career at Drinker Biddle in the Philadelphia office as a first year associate in 1995 before moving to the firm’s Princeton office in 1999.

Ian’s Practice: Ian focuses on advising entrepreneurs, technology companies and venture investors on how best to establish, capitalize and grow innovative businesses. Ian counsels technology company clients on strategic business matters throughout a company's life-cycle and represents and advises clients in critical business transactions, including seed, angel and venture capital financings, acquisitions and divestitures, joint ventures, strategic alliances and other technology partnerships. Ian also advises angel investors, venture capital firms and corporate venture arms of large corporations in connection with early and late stage preferred stock and convertible debt financings and in connection with acquisition and exit events involving portfolio companies.

Through his client representations (including Comcast, Merck’s venture fund a variety of technology-centric emerging growth companies), Ian has developed significant industry experience in the software, internet, digital media, telecommunications, Healthcare IT, and cleantech industries.

In General: Ian received his law degree from Rutgers University, where he graduated with honors and was an editor of the law review, and graduated from Rutgers College with a degree in economics. He is admitted to practice law in New Jersey and Pennsylvania. In between Ian’s tenure in the Philadelphia and Princeton offices of Drinker Biddle & Reath, Ian worked in-house as general counsel of a Philadelphia based Internet startup company in 2000, where in addition to his day-to-day legal oversight role he was responsible for negotiating multiple financings, dozens of content acquisition and license arrangements, and several strategic partnerships.

Personal Information: Ian lives in Hopewell, NJ with his wife Sundi and his children, Summer and Liam. An avid runner, Ian and his family have organized the Hopewell Valley Train Run for the last several years benefitting Drinker Biddle client, the D&R Greenway Land Trust.
