Philadelphia partner Steve Baker has been recognized by the BTI Consulting Group as as a Client Service All Star for 2013. BTI arrived at a list of only 307 honorees after interviewing more than 240 corporate counsel at large and Fortune 1000 companies.

Baker, who serves on the firm’s Client Service Committee, is the leader of our Life Insurance & Annuities Practice Group and represents major insurance company groups in business litigation, regulatory, coverage and claims matters.  Throughout his 30-plus year career as a trial lawyer, he has spent an aggregate of more than a year on trial and has become widely known for client-driven, innovative service.  Service initiatives developed by Steve include a biennial national symposium on emerging issues in life insurance and annuities (the next of which will be in Chicago in June); client “issue forum” meetings for internal discussion and management of emerging issues in life insurance and annuities; a fixed-fee second opinion for serious cases; money-back guarantees on certain results; and creating a client profit center for a carrier out of a complex of environmental claims.  Baker is also known for his ground-breaking work in identifying and combating stranger-originated life insurance, and for his leadership of the country’s premier practice on the issues.

Baker is the fourth Drinker Biddle lawyer to receive this recognition in six years, joining Mike McTigue, Bob Skitol and Howard Blum.
