Moving Targets: Copyrightability and the Scope of Protection

Overview

Washington, DC of counsel Janet Fries spoke at Columbia Law School’s annual symposium held in conjunction with the U.S. Copyright Office on October 4, 2019, at the Kernochan Center for Law, Media and the Arts. This year’s symposium, “Moving Targets: Copyrightability and the Scope of Protection,” focused on how forms of creative expression are advancing at a faster rate than the law and that authors must grapple with obtaining copyrights for their pieces.

Janet joined practitioners and Copyright Office representatives at a roundtable discussion on practical experiences concerning applications to register nonconventional works.
