Partners David B. Sudzus (Chicago) and Michael C. Zogby (Florham Park) served as co-chairs and members of the Organizing Committee for the ABA’s “Current Issues in Pharmaceutical, Medical Device & Biotech Litigation Regional CLE Program” on October 24−25, 2019. The conference was held at the New York City world headquarters of Pfizer, Inc., one of the world’s largest biopharmaceutical companies.

Dave and Mike organized the program, delivered opening remarks, and introduced the speakers and panels at the two day pharma and life sciences program, which covered topics relevant to all levels of practitioners, including trends in individual and mass tort device litigation, social media, innovator liability, personal jurisdiction, ethical considerations for in-house counsel, the key decisions affecting drug and device litigation in the past year, and a special judges' panel. The program included speakers and attendees from plaintiff and defense firms, in-house law departments, members of the judiciary, and academics from throughout the United States. As program chairs, Dave and Mike were instrumental in guiding strategy, planning, recruiting, and overseeing all aspects of this CLE, including the programming and reception, while serving in an advisory capacity to the ABA Section of Litigation Products Liability Committee’s Pharmaceutical, Medical Device & Biotech Subcommittee and the Mass Torts Litigation Committee, in which they hold leadership roles.
