Chicago senior attorney Russell J. Chibe will speak at the upcoming International Consumer Product Health and Safety Organization (ICPHSO) 2019 Regional Workshop in St. Louis, Missouri on July 11, 2019. Russ will speak along with Jade Lambert from King & Spalding and Michael Del Negro from GE Appliances.
The presentation titled “Biometric Data Privacy Laws: An Increasing Litigation Threat for Manufacturers” will discuss the state of biometric privacy litigation in Illinois as well as other states’ laws on the topic. The focus of the presentation is to outline how certain states are regulating biometric data privacy and the litigation threats in those states for manufacturers whose products collect fingerprints, use facial recognition technology, or otherwise gather biometric data. The presenters will also examine how other states will use their own biometric data laws and theorize how these regulations will change in the United States.
