The Evolving Privacy Landscape: The Next Steps on the Federal Front

On November 15, the Washington, D.C., office will host a CLE program sponsored by the Federal Communications Bar Association (FCBA). The program, titled “The Evolving Privacy Landscape: The Next Steps on the Federal Front,” will provide an overview of recent changes in privacy laws and analyze current legislative and regulatory efforts to develop a federal privacy framework. Laura Phillips, partner and chair of the Government and Regulatory Affairs group, will provide the opening remarks and moderate the Government Perspectives panel. Laura is the co-chair of the FCBA Privacy and Data Security Committee.

Partner Peter Blenkinsop will serve as a panelist during the first session, titled “Industry Perspectives.” Peter and his fellow panelists will address the current privacy framework in the United States and how it compares to the General Data Protection Regulation and California’s new privacy law.

The second panel, titled “Government Perspectives,” will feature Capitol Hill, National Telecommunications and Information Administration and Federal Trade Commission staff, who will discuss legislative and regulatory efforts to establish a national federal privacy regime. Laura will serve as moderator.
