Mike Zogby, products liability partner in Florham Park, organized and moderated a one-hour ethics CLE for Drinker Biddle alumni and lawyers from the New Jersey and New York offices. The alumni reunion and CLE, “What’s Keeping Us Awake at Night: Corporate Counsel Roundtable,” was held at the Morris County Golf Club in Morristown, N.J. on November 9. The panel featured alumni Kevin Kramer, Nancy Washington, Rich Gottuso and Scott Carroll, who discussed the impact of technology on the priorities and demands of companies’ in-house legal departments.

Legal officers have indicated particular concern with ethics and compliance issues, regulatory demands and the burdens of cybersecurity. The panel discussed various issues confronting in-house lawyers, including responding to the business units as clients, efficient time management, partnering with outside counsel, dealing with a remote workforce, managing trial and ADR expectations, handling discovery demands and hold notices, addressing succession planning, leveraging fee arrangements, and coping with the threat of data breach through information governance.

Following the program, guests enjoyed cocktails, hors d’oeuvres and a buffet-style dinner while they mingled, networked, reconnected and reminisced over shared experiences at the firm. Learn more about the alumni reunion CLE and cocktail reception.
