Washington, D.C., of counsel Janet Fries spoke on a panel discussing IP issues in the entertainment industry at the ABA IP West 2017 Conference on October 11, 2017. Janet’s panel, “Hollywood or Bust: Where IP and Entertainment Law Intersect,” also included Linden Bierman Lytle, Vice President of the Music and Entertainment Group at Viacom Media Networks and was moderated by David Postolski, partner at Gearhart Law. The panel provided an in-depth discussion of the IP rights of writers, artists, musicians and other creators and the process of securing those rights for film production and distribution. The IP West Conference brought together legal practitioners and IP professionals who covered a wide range of IP topics, including recent Supreme Court decisions, open-source software, ethics and data privacy.
