GDPR: DPIAs and Risk

Overview

Washington, D.C. partner Peter Blenkinsop co-led a session at the 2017 Solove/Schwartz Privacy + Security Forum on the Data Protection Impact Assessment (DPIA) process under the upcoming General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) requirements. The GDPR, set to take effect on May 25, 2018, will replace the Data Protection Directive and affects all organizations conducting work in and with the EU.

Peter’s session, co-presented with TrustArc General Counsel and Chief Data Governance Officer Hilary Wandall, covered how to conduct a DPIA, evaluate likelihood and severity of risks, and evaluate safeguards and other measures to mitigate risks.
