Intellectual Property Management in the Entertainment Industry: Copyright, Trademark and Licensing

Overview

Washington, D.C., of counsel Janet Fries gave a guest lecture on October 20 at the University of Maryland in a session titled, “Intellectual Property Management in the Entertainment Industry: Copyright, Trademark and Licensing.” Janet was part of a training program to discuss the new landscape for the performing arts in China, after the government announced it would be scaling back its state support for arts organizations.

Approximately 25 executives from various performing arts organizations in China were in attendance.

The program was put together by the university’s Office of China Affairs in partnership with China's Ministry of Culture, the Chinese Embassy, and the China Arts and Entertainment Group, China's largest state-owned performing arts company.
