Drinker Biddle’s Insurance Regulatory and Transactional team was a co-sponsor of Trading Risk’s Monte Carlo Roundtable 2016, held on September 13 during the 60th anniversary of the Rendez-vous de Septembre—one of the international re/insurance market’s annual highlights. The Rendez-vous gathers more than 2,600 professionals from more than 80 countries to discuss matters that concern the re/insurance market, and marks the beginning of the annual reinsurance renewal negotiation process.

Michael R. Halsband was the co-host and featured panelist at the Trading Risk Insurance-linked securities (ILS) Roundtable. Along with other industry thought leaders, he offered insight on a range of ILS topics.

Michael has more than 25 years’ leadership experience in insurance, reinsurance and the capital markets. Before joining Drinker Biddle, he was the founding senior executive and President of the ILS convergence initiative at White Mountain’s Sirius Group, where he led the development, design and launch of their convergence strategy and institutional cat platform. Before Sirius, he was at Goldman Sachs and Deutsche Bank, involved in some of the earliest and most innovative ILS transactions. His transactional work is focused on complex structured reinsurance transactions, insurance-linked securities (ILS), sidecar and cat convergence fund formation and management, and distressed portfolio run-off administration and strategies.
