Philadelphia associate Mark C. Hammond will speak at the Second Annual Pennsylvania Landfill Conference sponsored by SCS Engineers. Mark, a member of the Environment and Energy Practice Group, will speak to an expected audience of more than 50 landfill operators and regulators regarding the potential impact on Pennsylvania landfills of on-going state and federal legislative and regulatory initiatives. Specifically, he will be discussing the American Power Bill (the Kerry-Lieberman Climate Change bill) introduced in the U.S. Senate on May 12, 2010, as well as the status of the initiatives affecting landfills outlined in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Climate Change Action Plan, issued to the Governor and General Assembly on December 18, 2009. In addition, Mark will discuss recent policy decisions made by the Department of Environmental Protection that imperil the future of the state's landfill-gas-to-energy industry.
