Washington, D.C., partner M. Howard Morse, co-chair of the Antitrust Practice, will give a webcast briefing January 25, 2010, on possible revisions by the Department of Justice and the Federal Trade Commission, to the agencies’ Horizontal Merger Guidelines, which are used to evaluate the potential competitive effects of mergers and acquisitions. The agencies are conducting workshops to consider whether revisions to the Guidelines are appropriate to reflect current practice and recent legal and economic developments. During the webcast, sponsored by PLI, Howard, former Assistant Director of the FTC’s Bureau of Competition, will provide background on the Merger Guidelines and discuss the agencies’ reasons for reviewing the Guidelines, key issues under consideration and implications for counseling.
