Doyle, head of the Life Sciences Team of the Intellectual Property Practice Group, discussed patent ownership of genetic materials in a live video webcast hosted by ALI-ABA entitled “Patents on Genetic Materials: Can Anyone Own Your Genes?” The program focused on the case of ACLU v. Myriad Genetics and examined several issues, including the patentability of genes obtained from humans, the scope of the court’s jurisdiction and what deference, if any, patent law owes to social policy.
