Associate
Tracy E. Schloss joined the firm in 2008 as an associate in the firm's Commercial Litigation Practice Group. Prior to joining the firm, Tracy clerked for the Hon. L. Felipe Restrepo on the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania.
Tracy focuses her practice on white collar criminal defense, government investigations and corporate internal investigations. Tracy has also represented clients in a broad range of civil matters, including consumer class actions, First Amendment litigation, “clawback” litigation, and shareholder derivative actions.
Tracy’s significant representations include:
- Representing an individual in a federal grand jury investigation of R.I.C.O. violations and securities fraud;
- Acting as assistant counsel in a jury trial pertaining to a client’s First Amendment right to free religious exercise;
- Defending a Ponzi scheme investor in federal “clawback” litigation;
- Conducting an internal investigation on behalf of the independent directors of a financial institution;
- Winning a significant monetary award for a non-citizen whistleblower in a criminal environmental matter involving numerous federal agencies.
Tracy is also dedicated to maintaining an active
pro bono practice. With another associate, she represented an indigent, non-cooperating criminal defendant in an open plea to Hobbs Act robbery and 18 U.S.C. § 924(c) gun charges in federal court. Currently, she acts as the court-appointed child advocate for a juvenile complainant in a criminal sexual abuse matter.
In General. Tracy earned her J.D. from the University of Michigan Law School, where she was president of the Women Law Students Association. In 2005, she received Michigan's Jenny Runkles Memorial Award for outstanding commitment to public service. She received her bachelor's degree,
magna cum laude, from Colby College. While in college, Tracy was a visiting scholar in philosophy, politics and economics at the University of Oxford.
