Joseph F. Evangelista represents and counsels clients on a variety of life insurance and annuities matters and property and casualty insurance issues. Joe has experience handling many aspects of civil and appellate litigation in state and federal courts nationwide. He represents life insurers in disputes involving the secondary market for life insurance, insurance fraud, policy lapses, policy loans, and policy cancellations.
In addition to his litigation practice, Joe also counsels national insurance clients on a variety of issues, including claim determinations and policy administration. Joe has also counseled insurers on civil subpoena compliance and provided guidance to numerous Long Term Care insurers. Joe has significant interest in how nanotechnology developments will impact the insurance industry and writes about these issues on Twitter @NanoSuranceDBR.
Joe focuses on representing the software industry in cases arising from the licensure and implementation of integrated business software solutions (ERP). This litigation has allowed Joe to develop a deep understanding of the broad spectrum of issues the software industry faces, including relationships between software developers, systems integrators, and other third parties involved in software licensing and implementation.
During law school, he served as the Insurance Department’s Manager and, subsequently, as a Law Clerk.
