Andrew C. Kassner is the executive partner of the firm, and the chair of the Corporate Restructuring Practice Group. 

Areas of Concentration. Andy’s practice is concentrated in workouts, complex Chapter 11 cases and related bankruptcy litigation.  He has argued cases before more than 40 different judges in 30 federal jurisdictions throughout the country.  He has represented clients in more than 400 Chapter 11 cases, including debtors, secured creditors, significant unsecured creditors, and interested parties (such as leasing companies, suppliers and insurance companies), trustees, committees and purchasers of assets.  Andy has also developed particular capabilities in all aspects of business retail and manufacturing restructurings, real estate, hospitality, lease finance, telecommunications and health care insolvency matters.

In General. After receiving an undergraduate degree from the University of Pennsylvania, Andy graduated cum laude in 1983 from New York Law School (Journal of International and Comparative Law; American Jurisprudence Award in Constitutional Law).  After receiving his law degree, Andy began practicing bankruptcy and creditors’ rights law in New York City and thereafter moved to Philadelphia and was associated with the firm of Fox, Rothschild, O’Brien & Frankel.  He joined the firm in 1986.

Professional Memberships and Activities. Andy is a member of the Delaware Bar Association, Pennsylvania Bar Association, Philadelphia Bar Association, Eastern District of Pennsylvania Bankruptcy Conference and the American Bankruptcy Institute. He has lectured at the University of Pennsylvania Wharton School of Business and has appeared on CNN’s Managing with Lou Dobbs. He has been featured as a speaker on panels sponsored by the American Bankruptcy Institute, the Strategic Research Institute, the National Business Institute, the Turnaround Management Association, and the Practising Law Institute.  Andy also taught advanced bankruptcy law at Rutgers University School of Law-Camden for over 10 years, and was co-chair of the Business Law Section Bankruptcy Committee of the Philadelphia Bar Association from 2000-2005.  In 1999, Andy was named as one of the “Best Lawyers in Philadelphia” by Philadelphia Magazine.  In 2005, Andy was inducted as a fellow in the American College of Bankruptcy.  Andy has been selected in the 2011 and 2012 editions of The Best Lawyers in America, in the specialty of Bankruptcy and Creditor-Debtor Rights/ Insolvency and Reorganization Law.  In 2012, Chambers & Partners USA ranked Andy as one of three "Star Individuals" in Pennsylvania in the area of Bankruptcy/Restructuring.

Other Associations. Andy is a member of the board of the Consumer Bankruptcy Assistance Project.
