Phil Cardinale Appointed to ABA Delegation to World Intellectual Property Organization

Washington, D.C. associate Phil Cardinale has been appointed to the American Bar Association's delegation to the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO). Phil will represent the ABA's Intellectual Property Section - the world's largest association of IP lawyers - as Co-Liaison to WIPO's Standing Committee on Copyright and Related Rights (SCCR), the world's primary vehicle for the negotiation of copyright treaties.

Phil will partner in the role of WIPO Co-Liaison with former U.S. Register of Copyrights Ralph Oman. The SCCR convenes in Geneva and recently concluded work on the Beijing Treaty on Audiovisual Performances, a multilateral copyright treaty. As an ABA WIPO delegate, Phil will have a non-voting role during future SCCR negotiations as it selects and begins deliberating on its next copyright treaty.
