Drinker Biddle & Reath LLP today welcomes Douglas G. Bonner, a noted litigation and regulatory lawyer in the communications industry, as a partner in the firm’s Washington, D.C., office. He is a member of its Government & Regulatory Affairs Practice Group and the Telecommunications & Mass Media team.
Bonner, most recently with SNR Denton, spent several years working inhouse at MCI. He represents wireline and wireless carries on a broad range of issues relating to the deployment of new technologies. He also counsels clients on various types of provider contracts, as well as a broad range of federal and state regulatory issues affecting their service offerings.
“Doug is very well respected in the Communications Bar, and his experience working inhouse has given him substantial insight into the challenges our clients face, as well as the skills to find creative solutions for them,” said Alfred W. Putnam, Jr., Drinker Biddle’s Chairman.
Bonner, a frequent speaker on industry topics, is a longtime member of the Federal Communications Bar Association, through which he got to know Laura Phillips, the chair of Drinker Biddle’s Government & Regulatory Affairs Practice Group, and other members of the firm.
Phillips, who is president-elect of the FCBA, said she and her Drinker Biddle colleagues have long respected Bonner’s work. His diverse experience will help better serve the firm’s clients, Phillips continued.
“We have focused in recent years on positioning ourselves at the intersection of the regulatory, corporate and litigation arenas for our clients in the communications industry,” Phillips said. “Doug’s experience fits with that plan.”
Bonner earned his law degree from Catholic University Columbus School of Law and his bachelor’s degree from Bucknell University.
