Drinker Biddle’s Philadelphia Office Again Named a Healthiest Employer

The Philadelphia office of Drinker Biddle & Reath LLP has been named one of the region’s Healthiest Employers by the Philadelphia Business Journal for the second year in a row. The award, designed to recognize employers with work site wellness programs, placed an emphasis on employers that offered wellness programs supported by upper management, employee incentives and policies that foster engagement. Drinker Biddle’s Philadelphia office was one of 40 employers in the Philadelphia region to win the award, but just one of two law firms and one of just 16 companies and firms outside the health care industry to be honored.

“We’re proud that our efforts to encourage our employees to lead a healthy lifestyle have been recognized again,” said Jill Bronson, the Partner in Charge of the firm’s Philadelphia office. “This cements us as a leader in healthy lifestyles – not just among lawyers, but in the region. We’ll continue our work in improving our programs and implementing new ones.”

The office offers use of a personal trainer at a reduced rate; several on-site fitness classes, including yoga and Zumba; and a “Wellness Challenge” designed to encourage employees to not only lose weight but also improve their nutrition and take years off their metabolic lives. The office just recently participated in the National Walk @ Work Day and held a walking contest to encourage employee involvement. More than 50 employees participated.

To be considered for the Healthiest Employers award, employers were requested to answer a variety of questions, including some about their wellness programs, leadership commitment and strategic planning. Teaming with professionals in health, academic and business settings, the Philadelphia Business Journal then scored the answers and, using a proprietary algorithm, indexed each organization against the survey set.
