Associate

Lawrence J. Del Rossi is an associate in firm’s Labor & Employment Practice Group.

Employment Litigation and Counseling.  Larry works on a full spectrum of labor and employment matters, with a focus on employment litigation in state and federal courts.  He has defended various forms of discrimination, retaliation and related claims under federal and state law, including complaints alleging violations of New Jersey’s Law Against Discrimination and Conscientious Employees Protection Act, Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, the Americans with Disabilities Act, the Age Discrimination in Employment Act, the Family and Medical Leave Act, the Fair Labor Standards Act and various state laws governing employee rights.  Larry also counsels employers on a variety of issues, including wage and hour issues, layoffs, individual employment terminations, handbooks, and internal policies, and also regularly drafts and reviews severance agreements and employment contracts. Other areas of Larry’s practice include non-compete litigation (both defending and enforcing).

Representative experiences and cases include:

• Working on team within L&E group, obtained summary judgment on behalf of global pharmaceutical company in multi-plaintiff ERISA Section 510 action filed in the U.S. District Court of New Jersey, and affirmed by the U.S. Third Circuit Court of Appeals.
  
  
• Served as lead counsel in injunction proceedings during which Drinker Biddle achieved dismissal of Lanham Act claims and ultimately achieved favorable settlement on behalf of employee.
  
  
• Second-chaired injunction hearing during which Drinker Biddle gained favorable settlement on behalf of employer that included entering ongoing restrictions on the defendant former-employees’ ability to compete or solicit customers.
  
  
• Represented global pharmaceutical company in a nationwide collective action brought by sales representatives under the FLSA.

Clerkships and other experience in general.  Larry joined the firm following clerkships with the Hon. Robert B. Kugler of the U.S. District Court of New Jersey and the Hon. James R. Zazzali of the Supreme Court of New Jersey.

While in law school, Larry served as a summer intern for the Hon. Joseph H. Rodriguez of the U.S. District Court of New Jersey, and as an extern during his third year in law school for then-Magistrate Judge Robert B. Kugler of the U.S. District Court of New Jersey.  He was a member of Rutgers Law Journal.  He was also selected to be a teaching assistant for the legal research and writing program at Rutgers University School of Law Camden, a position awarded to only a few students each year.  At graduation, Larry received one of six First-Year Writing Awards for outstanding excellence in legal research and writing.

Larry is currently the chair of Drinker Biddle’s Associates Committee.
