Kristin K. Going is the leader of the Corporate Trust Team and a member of the firm’s Corporate Restructuring Practice Group. Her practice consists of representing creditors in litigation and bankruptcy. Kristin's primary focus includes representing indenture and securitization trustees in default, workout and bankruptcy situations. She also represents individual creditors and Chapter 7 and Chapter 11 trustees in insolvency proceedings in state and federal courts.
Recently, Kristin has represented indenture trustee and bondholder interests in such national bankruptcy cases as General Motors, Smurfit Stone Container Corp., Chemtura Corporation, Bally Total Fitness, Hawaiian Telcom, Hayes Lemmerz, Muzak Holdings, Primus Telecommunications, Aventine Renewable Energy, Northwest Airlines and Fairfield Residential. Kristin has a proven track record of protecting indenture trustees' interests while obtaining significant recoveries for bondholders.
Additionally, Kristin is currently representing firm clients in bankruptcy matters involving telecommunications companies as well as in bankruptcy litigation arising from the Lehman and Madoff proceedings.
Kristin also has significant experience in bankruptcy and debt restructuring matters involving companies in the health care, retail and automotive industries.
Kristin is a frequent speaker for the American Bankers Association and the American Bankruptcy Institute.
She is a member of the firm's Hedge Fund Task Force and frequently advises funds and investors in cases involving fraud and ponzi schemes, as well as funds liquidating under receivership or bankruptcy.
In General. Kristin obtained an LL.M. in bankruptcy from St. John’s University School of Law, where she prepared and defended her LL.M thesis on venue issues affecting bankruptcy filings and proceedings.
Kristin currently serves on the ABI Law Review advisory board, the St. John's University LL.M. in Bankruptcy advisory board and the ABI views from the Bench Advisory Board.
When not focusing on corporate trust or bankruptcy matters, Kristin, an avid equestrian, can be found on her former racehorse, Blue.
