Joseph J. Whitney is an associate in the firm's Real Estate Practice Group.  Joseph concentrates his practice on commercial real estate transactions, including acquisitions, dispositions, leasing, financings and land use.

Acquisitions and DispositionsJoseph represents both sellers and buyers in a broad range of acquisitions and dispositions, including office, industrial, retail, farmland and redevelopment areas.  Joseph also has extensive experience in creating commercial condominiums and counseling clients with respect to the New Jersey Condominium Act.

Leasing.  Joseph represents landlords and tenants in all aspects of lease transactions.  He has experience with office, retail, and industrial leases and other ancillary lease issues such as leasehold financings, subordination agreements, lien waivers and commission agreements.


Financing.  Joseph represents both lenders and borrowers in financing transactions secured by real estate.

In General.  Joseph earned his bachelor's degree in finance and economics from The College of New Jersey in 2001.  In 2004, he received his J.D., with honors, from Rutgers University School of Law - Newark, where he was notes editor for the Rutgers Law Review
Joseph was also the recipient of the Miron M. Walley Memorial Prize for being the graduating student who most excelled in coursework in the field of real estate transactions.  Joseph is admitted to practice law in New Jersey and New York.
