District Policy Group President Ilisa Halpern Paul discusses Dale Bumper’s recent passing in her latest Morning Consult column, “Remembering Dale Bumpers – From a Senate Gone By.”

Ilisa remembers the three and a half years she worked with Dale after his senate retirement, and during his third career as a consultant and lobbyist. The former Governor and Senator attended her 2006 wedding, encouraging her to have more work-life balance. Ilisa states that Dale considered public service a calling and a duty, and often reflected on the current state of the Senate. “Dale was a man of deep integrity, an amazing work ethic, and a terrific sense of humor. Unlike other retired Congressmen of his generation, he showed up every day ready to work a full day and earn his keep.”
