Wilmington associate Lindsay Orr wrote an article for The Legal Intelligencer titled, “Opposing Counsel as a Potential Source of New Business.”

The article discusses one potential source of business referrals that young lawyers potentially overlook: opposing counsel.  Because opposing counsel spends substantial time reading the work you prepared, and watches how you handle yourself in the courtroom, they are likely forming opinions about your work as a lawyer.

Lindsay says, “If you proceed with this thought in mind, you may be able to set yourself up so that once you no longer are opposing a particular attorney, you can develop a cordial professional relationship that may lead to the referral of business.”
