Washington, D.C., government relations director Jeremy Scott, a member of the Government & Regulatory Affairs practice group, authored “Congressional Super Committee: Its Failure and What It Means” published in the February 2012 issue of ARN Network. The article gave a summary of the Joint Select Committee on Deficit Reduction, or “Super Committee,” and its failure to produce a debt reduction plan before the deadline. Unless Congress takes action before the end of 2012, an automatic reduction in spending, or “sequestration,” will occur. The article outlined the effects of sequestration on the Medicare program, and the resulting issues for rehabilitation nurses, facilities and patients.
