Drinker Biddle partner Meredith C. Slawe was recognized as one of the Philadelphia Business Journal’s “40 Under 40” for 2017. Meredith and the other recipients of this award were honored at a dinner on May 11, 2017.

The prestigious “40 Under 40” list recognizes talented leaders who are proven performers in their respective industries and who have made significant contributions to the quality of life in the community. This year, the Philadelphia Business Journal received more than 400 nominations for the 40 spots—the most it has ever received.

Meredith is a graduate of Dartmouth College and the University of Pennsylvania Law School. She is a member of Drinker Biddle’s Litigation Group, a Vice Chair of the firm’s Class Actions Team, and a Co-Chair of the Retail Industry Group. She focuses her practice on defending companies in consumer class actions and business disputes in federal and state courts across the country. Meredith has extensive experience representing leading businesses in litigation involving privacy issues, deceptive marketing, advertising and pricing claims, Telephone Consumer Protection Act claims, and advising on related compliance efforts. She has a deep knowledge of issues facing the retail industry and represents prominent retailers in some of their most significant litigation matters. Meredith is a frequent speaker and writer on issues related to the defense of consumer class actions and complex litigation.

At Drinker Biddle, Meredith serves as Chair of the Summer Associate Program, a member of the Women’s Leadership Committee, a leader on the Association of Corporate Counsel Committee and a partner liaison to the Associates Committee. She actively mentors several associates across practice groups.

Meredith also serves on the Philadelphia Museum of Art Corporate Executive Board, the University of Pennsylvania Law School Alumni Board of Managers, the Bloomberg Law Litigation Innovation Board, and the Moore College of Art & Design’s Visionary Woman Awards Committee.

In addition to being honored as one of the Philadelphia Business Journal’s “40 Under 40” for 2017, Meredith has been named a “Lawyer on the Fast Track” by The Legal Intelligencer, a “Top Woman in Law” by ALM and a “Rising Star” by the University of Pennsylvania Law School.

Meredith resides in the Philadelphia suburbs with her husband, Dan (Senior Counsel at SAP), their three young children and their English cocker spaniel.
