Ms. Barsamian is a seasoned corporate lawyer with more than 25 years of complex securities, mergers and acquisitions, and other corporate transactional, advisory and regulatory experience. She represents issuers, underwriters and financial sponsors in equity and debt capital markets/securities offerings and other corporate finance transactions. She also advises public and private companies and financial advisors in M&A, recapitalization and change-of-control transactions.
Ms. Barsamian has extensive experience handling matters across a wide range of sectors, including financial services and institutions, specialty finance, REITs, media and entertainment, and industrial/consumer products. Chambers USA and The Legal 500 have recognized Ms. Barsamian as one of the top capital markets lawyers in the United States.

Most recently, Ms. Barsamian was a partner at Baker Botts and earlier in her career was a partner and co-chair of the global corporate finance practice at Dechert LLP. A veteran advisor on federal securities laws, she also counsels on SEC filings, best practices and compliance issues. In addition, she advises board of directors and board committees on a range of routine and extraordinary corporate governance matters, including internal investigations, fiduciary duties, risk oversight, leadership, disclosure, and other matters.

Ms. Barsamian was recently appointed by President Barack Obama to serve on the Board of the Securities Investor Protection Corporation, pending confirmation by the U.S. Senate. Ms. Barsamian is a graduate of the University of Chicago Law School, where she was a member of The University of Chicago Law Review and a Hinton Moot Court Semifinalist. She also holds a bachelor’s degree in English and Economics from Amherst College.
