Philadelphia partner Mary Hansen was quoted in a Law360 article titled, “Muni Fraud Arrests Kick Gov’t Crackdown Into High Gear.” The article discusses the recent arrests of two public officials over their alleged fraud in municipal bond offerings, as well as the arrests’ indication of a more policed bond market in the future.

Mary commented on SEC’s efforts over the last six years to zero in on municipal underwriters, issuers and officials by implementing tougher sanctions in enforcement cases. “[The SEC has] been trying to get a message out there,” she said. “Just because you’re a small municipality, don’t think you don’t have to pay attention to the securities laws.”
