Drinker Biddle & Reath LLP has strengthened its corporate litigation capabilities in the Delaware legal market with the addition of Michael J. Maimone, who joins the firm as a partner residing in the Wilmington office.

“Mike has built a strong reputation for his corporate litigation practice and is well-known and regarded by firm partners,” said Andrew C. Kassner, Chairman and CEO of Drinker Biddle. “Delaware is a key growth market for Drinker Biddle and adding someone of Mike’s stature enhances the firm’s ability to compete for work as well as attract and recruit top talent in Wilmington and beyond.”

Previously, Mr. Maimone was the managing partner of the Wilmington office for Greenberg Traurig LLP. He focuses his practice on corporate and commercial litigation and corporate counseling for investment banking and private equity firms. He has represented numerous boards of directors in hostile acquisitions, corporate restructuring, mergers and going-private transactions.

Mr. Maimone has also helped negotiate financing for startup corporations and has advised clients on tender offers, proxy contests, mergers and other general corporate matters, which include advising foreign-based venture capitalists with investments in the U.S.

“Mike’s in-depth understanding of the unique nature of the Delaware legal market strengthens the capabilities of our Litigation Group,” said Michael W. McTigue Jr., Executive Partner and Chair of the Litigation Group. “The demand for Chancery litigators in Delaware combined with Mike’s blend of litigation and transactional experience is a perfect fit for our practice and the needs of our clients.”

“As we continue to grow the Delaware office, we are very pleased to have a lawyer of Mike’s caliber join the firm.  His proven track record in this important practice area complements our existing strengths and is very consistent with the strategic growth we are seeking to achieve,” said Thomas P. McGonigle, partner in the Litigation Group and the Regional Partner in Charge of the firm’s Wilmington office.

Mr. Maimone is also an adjunct professor at Tulane University School of Law, where he lectures on issues of corporate law and teaches an advanced-level course on corporate law and hostile acquisitions. He was also a guest lecturer at University of Virginia School of Law.
