Chicago partner Jesse Ruiz has been elected president of the Board of Commissioners of the Chicago Park District. The appointment became effective January 13, 2015.

Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel appointed Jesse to the board in November and recommended he be elected president to lead the district in the adoption of new long-term plans. Jesse replaced Dr. Bryan Traubert, who had led the board since 2010 and stepped down at the end of 2015.

“Jesse’s leadership is ideal to build on the incredible progress made during Brian’s tenure,” said Mayor Emanuel. “Jesse is the perfect choice to lead the Park District Board as it moves forward under the long-term plan for our parks.”

Jesse has served as Vice President of the Chicago Board of Education since May of 2011, and in 2015 he served as Interim CEO of Chicago Public Schools.
