New York Corporate and Securities partner Marc Leaf was recently featured in a television segment for The Street.
Marc discussed merger activity and convergence in the telecommunications industry, which is being driven by consumer demand. While a lot of large-scale deals have already occurred—and there may be a few more on the horizon— Marc said he expects more partnerships between small and midsized providers who may find it difficult to grow organically on their own. He added that antitrust concerns are the real wild card when it comes to firms getting together.
Marc says consumers demand access to information and entertainment, anytime, anyplace, and on any device. Asked who will be the big winners in this round of merger activity, Marc said to follow the consumer: the big winners will be those providers that meet consumer needs.
