Susan Waltman, Executive Vice President for Legal, Regulatory and Professional Affairs and General Counsel for the Greater New York Hospital Association (GNYHA), has been recognized as a 2015 Award Medalist by Columbia University. The Alumni Medal, first awarded in 1933, recognizes alumni of Columbia University for their distinguished service of ten years or more to the University—including its schools, alumni associations, regional Columbia Clubs, and University-wide initiatives.

At the Greater New York Hospital Association, Susan is responsible for the legal, regulatory and professional affairs involving GNYHA and its affiliated companies as well as overseeing GNYHA's emergency preparedness and response activities on behalf of its members. She is the third generation in her family to graduate from Columbia Law School. Susan currently serves on the steering committee of the Law School's Board of Visitors, has served on the board of the Columbia Alumni Association, participated in the development of the alumni association's strategic plan and has co-chaired numerous law school reunions. In her biography on the University's website, it is noted that Susan's greatest commitment to Columbia is with respect to mentoring, advising and supporting its students and to promoting alumni engagement.

The Alumni Medal is awarded in two parts. The first was the presentation of the medal at Columbia's graduation this past spring and the second is an awards dinner honoring the medalists in Columbia's Lowe Library this October. A video about Susan's personal life and professional contributions will be showcased. We look forward to seeing the video and are so proud of our alumnus!
